Are you seeing clients in person?
We have providers who are fully remote and those who are hybrid offering both remote and in-person services. For those who are obtaining remote services, you must be located in the state of Michigan during your appointment. For those opting for in-person services, our providers work from our Ann Arbor office location at 2022 Hogback Rd, Suite 17, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
Are your offices on the bus route?
Yes, our office located at 2002 Hogback Rd, Suite 17, is located on the Ann Arbor bus route.
How will my therapist know I have arrived if you don’t have a receptionist?
Unlike agencies, the face of your experience with us will be your therapist. We understand that this can be a little uncomfortable, but we do not want you to feel like there are barriers between you and your therapist.
Please arrive shortly before your scheduled time and check-in on the iPad located in the waiting room. Your therapist will come out at your appointment time and get you from the waiting room. If your therapist is more than 10 minutes late, please reach out to your therapist at the email address provided in your appointment confirmation or call our main number at (734) 956-0051.
You can verify your appointment on your online portal and you should receive a text and email reminder of your appointment date and time approximately 48 hours prior to your appointment (if you elected to receive them).
If you did not receive those reminders or your appointment is not listed in your portal please call our office at 734-956-0051 or if you are an existing client reach your therapist through their extension located on the contact us page.
Please note: After hours appointment issues should be directed to your therapist or, if left in our general mailbox, will be handled the following business day.
How much does counseling cost?
This depends on if you are using insurance or not.
For clients with insurance: This rate varies based on your insurance company and your coverage. We will verify your benefits prior to your first appointment to find out if you have an out-of-pocket responsibility. You may have no responsibility, or have to pay the full rate until your deductible is met. Either way, we will minimize the chances for any surprises by checking it out first! We also encourage you to routinely contact your insurance company to find out this information for yourself and ensure you have the most up-to-date information.
If you are paying out of pocket: Depending on the therapist you see, sessions can range between $100-$150 per counseling session. Prescriber appointments are $200 for the intake appointment and between $75-$150 for follow-up appointments.
Do you take my insurance?
We take most insurances and many policies we are not in-network with sometimes offer out-of-network coverage. We are frequently adding new insurances to the ones we take, so feel free to call us and find out if we take yours! Not all therapists take all insurances. We will work with you to find the best therapist match for you based on what goals you have for counseling, your insurance, your location, and your availability. *Even if we are out of network with your insurance, you still might be covered. We are happy to check for you.
Here is a list of the insurances we are currently accepting:
In-Network
Aetna
Blue Care Network
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Blue Cross Medicare Advantage
Blue Cross Complete (Medicaid)
Medicare
Priority Health
Physician’s Health Plan
Resources for Living/Aetna EAP
Out of Network
Cigna
Cofinity
HAP
United Health Care
Tricare
How long does counseling take?
Therapy sessions are approximately 53-60 minutes in length. Most therapists see their clients weekly but others might see you bi-weekly or checking in as needed. This will all depend on your therapist, your goals, and the rate of progress. This is hard to measure and is often variable from client to client.
Counseling can provide you with some relief early on in counseling. Forming the alliance with your therapist, setting clear goals, and being committed to the process can help you achieve rewarding results.
When do your therapists see patients?
We are open by appointment only. Our therapists are available at various times, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
We will work with you to find a therapist that works with people in your age group, on the goals you want to achieve, takes your insurance if you want to use it, and has availability during the times you are also available.
After the first appointment, you will manage your counseling schedule with your therapist.
How do I get in touch with my therapist?
If you are a client who has yet to be seen, you would call our main number and get an appointment set up with our Patient Coordinator.
If you are an existing client, the best way to get in touch with your therapist is by contacting them through the portal that you set up during your intake scheduling process, emailing them, or calling them at the numbers provided in your confirmation email.
What do I do if I am having an emergency?
If you feel you are a serious threat to yourself or someone else, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you are having an adverse reaction to your medication, please call our office immediately and leave a message if you do not get a live person.
If you feel like you need to contact your therapist, please call their extension and they will return their call as soon as they can. Only clients who have had an intake with their therapist already should be calling the therapist’s extension. All new clients, yet to be seen, please call our main number at 734-956-0051.
How do I cancel my appointment?
Like most places, we have a 24-hour cancellation policy. You can avoid any fee by contacting your therapist with 24-hour notice. Please refer to how your therapist has instructed you to reach them.
How do I pay my bill?
We require you to have a credit card on file to pay for your services. Payment is charged to the card on file 1-2 business days after your appointment.
If you need to change your credit card, please contact our billing department at billing@annarborcounselignservices.com or by calling 734-224-4392.
You are also free to call us at 734-224-43921 and make a payment over the phone or mail a payment in if you are no longer a client and wish to pay by check at 4007 Carpenter Rd, #214, Ypsilanti, MI 48197. Any payment that is outstanding for 60 days is at risk of being submitted to collections.
We are always willing to work with clients and set up payment plans to make it easier to pay down a balance and continue services.
I just need meds. Can I just see the prescribing clinician?
Yes, you may make an appointment with our prescribing clinicians for medication management or Ketamine treatment services without being counseling client of AACA. However, it is important to note that some insurances require patients to receive counseling services in order to receive Ketamine treatment services. We will review your insurance and provide you with any requirements prior to treatment.
What happens in therapy sessions?
Sessions are going to vary depending on your therapist’s approach and your goals. But, to simplify it as much as possible, this is a collaborative relationship.
In the first session you will get to know one another and talk about what has brought you into counseling. Moving forward, you will be setting goals with your therapist and establishing a plan to reach those goals. Every therapist delivers their services differently depending on their background and training. They will tailor the sessions based on your needs and the strategies that are working for you.
Do you have ADHD/Neuropsych testing?
In order to receive ADHD medication services, we offer a thorough assessment process with our licensed counselors prior to your medication appointment. This is not considered “psychological or neurological testing” but is suitable to obtain medication management services.
