What are Content Warnings?

Content warnings often appear before potentially sensitive content. These warnings often appear on various forms of media such as TV shows, Movies, Podcasts, Presentations, etc. Content warnings act as a way to help people get ready to take part in what is going around them, or leave situations if needed.

Are Trigger Warnings different from Content Warnings?

Trigger warnings are a type of content warning that set out to inform people of content that could potentially result in intense mental, emotional, and bodily responses for those with a history of trauma and/or anxiety.

Why are Content Warnings or Trigger Warnings Helpful?

These warnings alert people to media/material that may impact their health and give them the opportunity to prepare themselves with ways to cope.

These warnings are not intended to censor media/materials but the warnings are used as a tool to help the audience function within their window of tolerance.
