One thing I am very passionate about and have seen more frequently is the issue of sexual material consumption , or what is known as porn addiction. Understandably, it is difficult to admit that there is a problem, so often the individual’s partner is most likely to be the person to suggest they seek counseling. Sexually explicit material isn’t bad in and of itself, however when it begins to take over your life and affect your relationships is when it becomes a much bigger problem. Someone coming in with this is usually seeking help on curbing or eliminating this habit but has been having difficulty doing it by themselves. Those suffering from Porn addiction have reported it interfering with daily tasks and obligations, but the most damaging is how much it negatively impacts their relationship with their partner. Usually, in my experience, there is always an underlying thing going on that exuberates the addiction, so getting to the root of that along with monitoring how frequently and when it happens through journaling. This can involve writing down the context, the emotions and what the individual is risking by relapsing. Being open to understanding and not judging someone coming to work on this problem is key to making significant progress in breaking this habit.

Communication in and of itself can be so hard to navigate. Now imagine doing that with your partner! So many couples come for a variety of reasons, a big topic tends to be communication.

How can you hope to get anywhere when it feels like you're speaking two different languages? Usually one partner is the only one who pushes for counseling while the other some begrudgingly follows suit. Couple's coming into counseling are usually coming in with the goal of better understanding one another, and being on the same wave length, among other things. Couple's have described tense households, and escalating arguments that only gets worse the more the topic gets discussed. when you're on a never ending ride, with no way to get off, it can make sense to always be in attack mode. And when both are at war, every conversation is a battle, that's why I hope to remedy that. Exercises I've used in the past have helped couples such as learning what a proper apology looks like, and ways to adjust how things are being said in order to progress a conversation in a healthy manner.

Due to the pandemic I have had an influx of individuals seeking treatment for depression and/or anxiety. Many have acknowledged that their mental illness has made it difficult for them to cope with work, relationships and other demands in their daily living, which greatly impacts their quality of life. Many have expressed having feelings of sadness, unhappiness, irritability, feeling frustrated, indecisiveness, inability to concentrate and frequently feeling disappointed with life. The focus for each of my clients’ is finding the right treatment plan that meets his/her personal needs. My main objective is to cultivate change in the lives of my clients and help them experience a well-balanced life.

I have supported client mental wellness by building trust and keeping in mind never to be judgmental no matter the situation. My first goal is to help my client walk away with the necessary tools to cope, such as self-care activities: journaling, exercising, or person-to-person interactions such as meeting friends or doing something special with a loved one.

My second objective is to help give the client more control over his/her life. The strategies that I teach my clients that are very beneficial to managing good mind concentration; are deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, exercise, getting organized, self-care and acceptance of the things that they are unable to change. These wellness tools will promote positive mental health and will help them maintain a healthier life.

"Life is a balance between holding on and letting go." - Rumi

Life brings change. As we grow and change, so too do our families, our communities, and our world. Sometimes change feels natural; sometimes it jars us, leaving us sad, confused, or scared. In therapy, we can examine our responses to change and learn new tools for remaining true to our inner values in the presence of turmoil. I support my clients as they channel their inner resources into strategies for emotion regulation, effective decision-making, and radical acceptance.

I approach each client I serve with curiosity, compassion and optimism. Creating a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients is at the core of my practice. I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey, and I am here to provide guidance, support, and practical tools to empower you on your path to healing. After therapy, clients report feeling more peaceful, being better able

Life can be difficult enough when you start to think about all of the daunting tasks that require your attention such as homework, work duties, or other important responsibilities. However, when stress and anxiety begins to build up, life can start to feel even more overwhelming and sometimes overall unenjoyable. If this feeling is something you can relate to, then therapy is a great avenue to begin finding a way to balance it all in a healthy way. Finding a therapist that best fits you is also no easy task. But, I am committed to ensuring that your needs are always the first priority. I also strive to guarantee that within each of our sessions it feels like and is your safe space to share whatever you feel comfortable with.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing are a few models I utilize when working with clients. These methods have helped my clients reach their goals by allowing them to analyze their thoughts and find a way to adjust their behaviors or life choices in a way they see fit. My main goal is to help my clients feel empowered and back in control of the issues they have been struggling with. In addition, I aim to consistently be a support system for my clients and provide an active listening ear throughout the duration of our therapeutic relationship.

Day in and day out, we are faced with varying adversities. We tend to categorize our mental health in some of the following; anxiety, depression and the effects of trauma we have endured. Life with the presence of mental health can lead to feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and not knowing where to begin. As your therapist, I hope to provide positive guidance by taking a collaborative approach. Meeting you where you are is essential for the therapeutic relationship I hope to create in each session. I am passionate about helping you reach your goals by utilizing mindfulness skills, developing what coping mechanisms work specific to your needs, and to help you grow. As your therapist, my goal is to help you navigate your feelings and offer a supportive path towards what you envision.

Secondary to providing guidance to the mental health population, I have compassion for encouraging teens to have a life worth living. If you are struggling to find purpose, I look forward to providing a positive outlook on your journey through life through emotional regulation, impulse control, and discovering who you are by enhancing your self esteem.

Life and lived experiences have a way of testing you in ways that are unimaginable. Sadly, these things happen and can leave us to pick up and piece together our lives the best way we know how. And when things like life happen, it is okay to not be okay. As your therapist, I would support and empower you to continue on with life's journey. I believe that meeting a person where they are is critical in developing coping mechanisms that you are able to use when needed. I use an CBT approach combined with mindfulness. By utilizing this approach, I am able to work with the person to reshape their way of thinking and replace negative thoughts and feelings with positive ones. Mindfulness assists with keeping the person grounded in the now and aids in emotional regulation.

Mental health advocacy is a passion of mine. Especially among children and teens. I believe that their voices are silenced and this leads to them feeling as if their feelings are not valid. Children and teens should have a safe space where they are able to freely express their feelings, learn to identify them, and process them. This will equip the child or teen with coping skills and support that will strengthen emotional regulation and boost self-esteem. I would love to be able to create a healing and safe space for this to occur among all age groups.

Do you feel like you can’t get away from the worries or sad thoughts that are constantly running in your brain? Things like doing homework, spending time with friends, sleeping or even taking a shower can feel exhausting when you’re dealing with anxiety and depression. The hardest part of this can be the feeling that no one understands or the fear that people are judging you. You’d like someone to listen and support you. Well, therapy is a great place to start.

I view therapy as a place where you can bring anything you want to the table and we can look at it and sort it out together. It’s amazing how much better you can feel when you can speak of the things that hurt or bother you in a safe and protected space. In therapy we can work to meet your goals and help you become mentally healthy using mindfulness tools, therapeutic feedback, brain training skills, etc. My goals are your goals and I’m here to help.

“Neuroscience research shows that the only way we can change the way we feel is by becoming aware of our inner experience and learning to befriend what is going on inside ourselves.”—Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind and Body in the Healing of Trauma

Living with trauma can feel like you’ll never be free of the pain or even happy again. Moments and memories that should bring us joy feel robbed by experiences that left us hurting. Although it is terrifying to let someone in and to confront the source of our pain, we know that it is essential and can ultimately bring peace. Therapy is an excellent place to come to meet these feelings, body sensations and fears and put you on the path to take your power back and own your story. We will work together using techniques to help you strengthen your positive thought patterns, improve your coping strategies and learn to love yourself completely. I am dedicated to doing all that I can to help you feel better about yourself and about your life. You are stronger than you think and are worthy of love and belonging!

I believe in harmony. Helping others gain harmony within themselves through self-awareness, acknowledgement, and acceptance is what I am great at. Together we can cultivate a relationship and atmosphere that is honest, open, and non-judgemental. This is necessary in order to put a voice to the ugly, scary and seemingly impossible or weighted thoughts we carry and consume.

I have years of experience in substance abuse and community mental health. Through this lense, I have come to approach therapy utilizing cognitive behavioral, person-centered, and Adlerian theories. I believe that it is essential to address cognitive distortions and behavioral issues by analyzing presented problems, their perceived impact on self/others and then creating manageable goals to address them. This involves understanding family history. I want to know the root of past mental and behavioral struggles to compare and contrast them to the present. As a therapist, my goal is to remain optimistic to your potential and also help you develop a strong sense of self efficacy for what you want to accomplish in therapy.

I meet with teens and adults struggling with stress and nervousness. Perhaps you are experiencing stress significant enough that it can feel overwhelming, and the thought of avoidance sounds appealing. Together, we will work to overcome the temporary relief of escaping stressors and develop skills to cope in the moment. As you experience success, you will start to gain the confidence to move forward and face life’s challenges.

I am a counselor with additional training in Art Therapy. By incorporating art into therapy, I’m able to help you if you are having difficulty expressing emotions and thoughts verbally. Art therapy focuses on the process rather than the product. It provides an alternative method to processing trauma, identifying what busy thoughts look like, and developing emotional expression. I use an approach that integrates CBT and Art Therapy, which can assist you in seeing a clearer picture of your actions, thoughts, and feelings.

When sitting down for a therapy session with me, a person may be seeking support in managing their anxiety. Anxiety presents itself uniquely to each person and oftentimes people find it shows up in ways that impact their daily lives. Some have found that focusing on the to-do list at work can become overwhelming, maintaining healthy relationships when it is hard to leave the house can feel isolating or taking trips to the grocery store may feel paralyzing. You are not alone and you do not have to walk into the arena alone to grapple with/manage your anxiety. Together we can identify and utilize your strengths, with the support of cognitive behavior therapy to develop healthy coping skills. This creates the space for you to put these coping skills into practice. With continued application of healthy coping skills peace can be found in the overwhelming and a sense of belonging can be found in the isolation and confidence can be found in the paralysis.

It is natural as a human to seek out ways to cope with life stressors or traumatic experiences. We want to move past or forget about the life event(s) that continue to cause uncomfortable emotions. Sometimes we can find ourselves using unhealthy coping skills to manage daily living. You are not alone. I specialize in supporting those experiencing challenges with substance use. In session we work together to identify the warning signs and triggers that have led to your patterns of use. When you identify “the why” you can start to heal in the now. We create a space for you to identify and develop healthy coping skills that will support you in the daily life stressors and begin the healing with uncomfortable emotions.

Licensed Professional Counselor

Clients: Teens, Adults, Families
Specialties: Teen Defiance/Behavioral Disorders; Family, Couples and Parent/Child Conflict; Child and Adolescent Trauma

I often meet with teens who are exhibiting defiant behaviors, brought in by concerned parents or referred by professionals in hopes that therapy can help end the disruptive and problematic behavior. The teen, however, might not agree that their behavior is the problem and might instead state a desire for "everyone to get off my back."

Parents often feel at their wit's end - like they have tried everything by the time I meet them. And I know that they have been working incredibly hard to help their child. Parenting doesn’t come with directions and there are many challenges to help our kids navigate through, from issues such as bullying to the use of electronics. Despite the opposition between the parent and teen perspectives, there is shared hope that there is a way to reduce the constant conflict and find solutions to problematic patterns. Most often, parents are seeking a way to be effective and empowered to guide their kids in the best way.

When problems and conflicts are resolved in therapy, parents report feeling like they have gotten their kid back. Teens feel much more supported to make the necessary behavior changes. In counseling, I work with parents and teens to find the common goal, challenge assumptions about the other person, identify specific drivers that cause or worsen problems, and then work with them to develop individual skills to reach sensible outcomes. When parents can find ways to effectively navigate through the numerous challenges kids face in education, technology, dating, legal involvement, negative peers, and/or substance use they feel as if they have been re-energized.

By offering support, understanding and guidance to develop proactive plans, I assist parents to stop running frantically from fire to fire and focus more clearly on removing the matches.

Jennifer Simoneau

Licensed Master Social Worker

Clients: Children, Teens, Adults
Specialties: Trauma, Behavioral Issues, Depression, Anxiety

My counseling is centered around helping children, adolescents, teens, and their parents. Parents bring their children in for many reasons. You might feel like no matter how hard you have tried to maintain a relationship with your child they seem to be pulling further away. You no longer enjoy time together, life at home has become tense and full of yelling and screaming. In the competitive world kids live in these days it is common for them to feel tremendous pressure to do well. This can lead to anxiety and worry about their future and how their parents or teachers think of them. Young kids all the way up to college can feel this stress and coping skills can help learn to manage the stress and it may manifest in a variety of undesirable behaviors.

Children, adolescents, and teens also need support when going through traumatic life events and I can help them learn to cope with their worry, stress, and mood. Bullying, abuse, loss of a loved one, or big transitions are all experiences that you or your child may need support with. I provide opportunities for you or your child to communicate using expressive therapies, play, and discussion. Working with me is tailored to the age and needs of my client. I strive to help clients gain insight, develop skills and feel supported so that you can achieve successful results from our time together.

Many parents go through difficulties with their kids. It is impossible to have all the answers all of the time. Part of my job working with kids is also helping parents maintain the changes at home through support and strategies we develop in our sessions. You and your child can learn to communicate, connect, and as a family move forward with the skills you learned here.

Limited Licensed Masters Social Worker

Clients: Young Adults, Adults, Older adults
Specialties: Mood Disorders, Women's Issues, Self Esteem

Clients may seek therapeutic support for mood disorders driven by persistent emotional turmoil. Those clients might be grappling with intense sadness and detachment, disrupting daily life and eroding happiness. They likely aim to rediscover emotional balance and alleviate their distress. The desired outcome likely involves a transformed emotional state and perspective. They hope to transition from the grip of their mood disorder to a brighter emotional realm where they can engage fully in life, build relationships, and regain enthusiasm. Clients who've achieved such results describe improved well-being, better self-esteem, and fulfilling interactions.

My approach combines empathetic support with CBT and mindfulness. By addressing negative thought patterns and triggers with the help of tools like cognitive reframing, clients gain awareness. Mindfulness aids in managing thoughts and fostering self-compassion. Through collaborative exploration, clients navigate emotions better. By providing a safe space, I assist clients in reshaping their emotional landscape and enhancing overall well-being.

One of my specialists is to address a range of gender-specific issues that women might be facing. Those clients might be coming in to navigate challenges such as gender-based discrimination, body image concerns, or the complexities of work-life balance. They likely hope to achieve a sense of empowerment, self-acceptance, and the ability to navigate these issues confidently. The desired result for those clients would likely involve increased self-esteem, improved coping mechanisms, and a more positive self-image. They aspire to overcome the hurdles that women's issues often present and to lead a life where they feel in control of their choices and emotions.

Clients who've achieved these results often express a greater sense of self-worth, improved relationships, and a stronger sense of identity. I employ a combination of feminist therapy and cognitive-behavioral techniques. I create a safe space for clients to explore societal pressures and internalized beliefs. By offering objective feedback and challenging distorted thought patterns, clients gain insight into their self-perception. Mindfulness exercises help them manage stress and cultivate self-compassion.

Moreover, exploring gender roles and cultural influences fosters self-discovery and authenticity. Through these strategies, clients can confront and reframe women's issues, leading to increased
